Key drivers for zero-emission waterborne transport – the lead topic of Day 2
It is evident that the world is not on track to achieve a temperature increase well below 2°C, which is why urgent action is needed. Increasing the energy efficiency of ships alone is not enough to meet the 2050 objective of the European Green Deal and the targets of the IMO strategy to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ships. Only a combination of innovative solutions, fuels, operational concepts, and technologies that result in low or zero emissions, along with ambitious regulations, will lead to the necessary change. Research, development, and innovation are key to developing commercially viable solutions as a response to existing challenges.
The program of the second day of the Forum is dedicated to the key drivers for zero-emission waterborne transport. Renowned and internationally recognized speakers will present the results of the latest research projects on advanced ship propulsion and efficiency technologies, and highlight the challenges and solutions for on-board fuel reforming and carbon capture. In addition, the role of the shipping industry in addressing increasing climate change will be discussed and ideas for the transition to sustainable shipping will be presented by leading representatives and experts from the shipping industry.
program of the second day:
